CIVIL WAR SOLDIERS MUSEUM
Founded by a local physician, the museum is a premiere Civil War educational and historical site
with accurate representations of the Civil War soldiers life during our nation's most violent
period. The excellent quality and quantity of the Museum's diverse collection is depicted by
authentic artifacts, uniforms, equipment, weapons, art, hand-crafted figurines, and life-sized
camp scenes, including a Confederate Medical Field Hospital with an amputation in progress, as
well as hundreds of personal items used by the common soldier during the war. View the web

NATIONAL MUSEUM of NAVAL AVIATION
Pensacola Naval Air Station - One of the largest air-and-space museums in the nation, features an awe-inspiring collection of
more than 100 Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard aircraft. Some of this facility's
highlights are on loan from the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. Open 9- 5.
EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE
The largest base in the world. It is also home to the biggest environmental test chamber, which
produces extremely hot temperatures and extremely frigid temperatures. The U.S. Air Force
Armament Museum is the only American museum dedicated to Air Force weaponry with
interesting displays. The spy plane "Blackbird" SR-71 is also on display.
VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK
Bayfront Parkway near 9th Avenue - The Veterans Memorial Park includes The Wall South, the nation's first full-name replica of the

BIG LAGOON STATE RECREATION AREA
Sandy beaches and salt marshes that are important habitat for birds and animals. An observation
tower gives viewers a bird's-eye view of great blue herons, cardinals and brown thrashers alike.
Year-round camping is available, along with swimming, fishing, boating and nature study. Series
of pops summer concerts scheduled.
GULF ISLANDS NATIONAL SEASHORE
Gulf Islands National Seashore is rich in natural and cultural resources. There are sparkling blue
waters, magnificent snowy-white beaches, and fertile coastal marshes. In the national seashore
there are 19th century forts, shaded picnic areas, winding nature trails, and comfortable
campgrounds. Diverse and abounding with wildlife, the park is not a single block of land -- it is
a mosaic. It includes 11 separate units stretching eastward 150 miles from West Ship Island,
Mississippi, to the eastern tip of Santa Rosa Island, Florida.
The GULF BREEZE ZOO
The ZOO is home to more than 700 animals, including rare lowland gorillas, white Bengal tigers
and Ellie the elephant. Known as the world's friendliest zoo, it allows visitors to feed giraffes,
ride a train through 30 acres of free-roaming animals, and enjoy a lush botanical garden.
WILDLIFE SANCTUARY of NORTHWEST FLORIDA
Takes in injured or orphaned wildlife from Panama City to Lillian, Ala., bald eagles, golden
eagles, hawks, fox, goats, sheep, otters, beavers, turtles, doves, geese and ducks are among the
animals you can see. The sanctuary is free and open to the public from noon to 2 p.m.
Wednesday to Saturday. The sanctuary gives tours by appointment for people of 10 or more.

"NATHANIEL BOWDITCH"
Enjoy relaxed three-hour cruises under sail aboard the 54' traditionally rigged steel schooner
"Nathaniel Bowditch" exploring the realm of dolphins and wild sea creatures. The sailing
schooner "Nathaniel Bowditch" also offers swimming and shell gathering sailing cruises along
the gulf beaches or in the bay.
THE MOORS GOLF
This 6,900-yard golf course was designed by John B. Lafoy and made to replicate the famous courses
found in Scotland. The Moors provides both the high handicapper and seasoned professional
an ideal setting to improve that swing .Host to the 1995 Nike Tour Classic and home of the 1997
Emerald Coast Classic, a Senior PGA Tour event.
OLDE SARGE'S OUTDOOR SOUTH
Organized canoe and kayak trips long the Perdido estuary and Tarkiln Bayou near the Alabama
state line. A five-hour trip with all equipment provided.
INDIAN TEMPLE MOUND AND MUSEUM
It is the largest and most impressive collection of early culture in the United States. The museum
houses interpretive exhibits depicting 10,000 years of four prehistoric Native American tribes'
occupation. Over 6,000 artifacts of stone, bone, clay and shell are here, as well as the largest
collection of Fort Walton Period ceramics in the Southeastern United States. Exhibits also
include artifacts from European Explorers, local pirates, Civil War soldiers and early settlers; the
largest Indian mound discovered along saltwater (1400 A.D.) stands guard beside the museum.
GULFARIUM
America's second oldest marine park (1955), it hosts Atlantic bottlenose dolphins, California sea lions, Peruvian
penguins, Ridley turtles and more in 14 fascinating Gulf-edged exhibits. Dolphin stars Princess and Delilah delight with feats from
comedic soccer games to 18-foot (540cm) leaps.
THE FOCUS CENTER
A child's fantasy museum of science, it stimulates the imagination with interactional fun
and great kids' stuff like a reflecting Castle of Mirrors, "adult-sized" bubble makers, a literally
hair-raising Vandergraph generator, an electrifying Illuma Storm and more.
FLORIDA CAVERNS - MARIANNA
Dripping with stalagmites and stalactites, Florida's only limestone caverns wind through
